2001 Illinois Ruffner Reunion
While attending the national Ruffner Family Reunion sponsored by the RFA at Luray, VA in June of 2001, a group of the IL descendants decided on the date of September 2nd for the 2001 IL Ruffner Reunion with Greenup, IL being the location.
The Greenup Reunion was similar to the Tuscola Reunion with the folks mingling, swapping stories, viewing memorabilia, and researching family connections. Although the total attendance was not as large as the previous year, there were some new attendees.
Don Ruffner presented an excellent video he had made. It featured many of the persons and activities at the RFA’s 2001 Ruffner Family Reunion at Luray, VA the previous June. Bill and Jean Brussell led a tour to some of the Ruffner sites east of Greenup. Among the sites they visited with those who did the tour were the Duck Pond Cemetery – the burial place of Walter N. Ruffner and his family, and the Ruffner Cemetery near Casey, IL where several Ruffner cousins are buried.
Those in attendance were once again in total agreement about their experience of family. Our thanks go to Greenup City Councilman Tom Bauguss for his assistance in securing the Greenup Municipal Building for our gathering.
Tentatively, June 2002 was suggested for the next gathering of the IL Ruffners with the location to be at Mason, IL. For information about the IL Ruffner Reunions, contact:
