The Ruffner Family Association
Incorporated – 1999
Our story, as an American family, begins with the marriage of Peter Ruffner and Mary Steinman in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1739.
Peter Ruffner & Mary Steinman
1713 – 1778 1714 – 1798
This union would lead to a family, which included eight children – the first Ruffners of our family born on this continent. Each of them was born at their parent’s Hawksbill Patent homestead in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
These children began their lives as British subjects, but most would live to see the formation of the United States of America and be highly productive citizens of this new nation of states.
On this site, read about Peter, Mary, and some of their descendants. Also, read the information about the Ruffner Family Association (RFA) where you will find the interesting things our organization sponsors.
The Ruffner Family Association has 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Status.
